Jeannie Provo-Petersen has been licensed to practice law since 1998 in Minnesota State and Federal District Courts. She practices primarily in the areas of transportation, automobile insurance, government liability, and commercial insurance law including liability, coverage, uninsured and underinsured motorist, no-fault, liquor liability, wrongful death, and general casualty law. Jeannie has developed an expertise in successfully defending clients in the transportation, automobile and commercial arena. She assists clients in containing current claims, while also serving as a resource in preventing and controlling future claims and losses.
Jeannie previously practiced law with a large insurance defense firm in Minneapolis. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jeannie was a paralegal for 12 years working in the areas of automobile insurance, personal injury (plaintiff and defense), medical malpractice, construction and property litigation, collection, criminal defense and workers' compensation (employer and employee). She has been nominated as a Super Lawyer numerous times by Minnesota Lawyer (formerly Minnesota Law & Politics), and prior thereto was named a "Rising Star" four times. Jeannie was the editor of the 1995 and 2000 editions of The Minnesota Motor Vehicle Insurance Manual, and co-authored the 2001 and 2004 supplements to that manual publsihed by the Minnesota Defense Lawyer's Association. She authors annually the liability chapter for the Minnesota Motor Vehicle Accident Deskbook, published by Minnesota CLE each year as one of the premier resources relied upon by automobile practitioners across the state. For more than ten years, she has annually co-chaired the Bodily Injury, UIM/UM and No-Fault Update Seminar for Minnesota CLE, and is frequently asked to speak at various insurance and continuing legal education seminars on various aspects of defending transportation, automobile liability, first and third-party claims, wrongful death and insurance fraud. Jeannie graduated cum laude from William Mitchell Law School, and obtained her undergraduate degree at Hamline University majoring in political science and legal studies, with honors. She frequently volunteers and helps fundraise for Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, assists with trial advocacy and negotiation classes at William Mitchell College of Law, is a proprietor and board member for local businesses, and is an avid hockey fan, among other interests.
